I've been wanting to do a painting just for fun for over a year and half now. It's great to finally get to do a painting out of my imagination rather than just still-life objects. I did do a little observation though. I referenced Sclera's pose from Pose Maniacs [link] and also referenced real rubber ducks.

So obviously this is kind of a surreal piece. Here again I've juxtaposed random things from my imagination and subconscious. I've also reused the conduit cable and rubber ducks.

When I begin a piece like this I'm not 100% sure exactly what I'm trying to say but as I work and begin to think about it, it seems as if I'm using a language I'm not consciously aware of.

I have decided my reoccurring images have the following meaning:

1) Rubber Ducks: Imaginative Play (The Desire to Have Fun)

2) Conduit Cables: Stress and Anxiety

3) Robots: The demand I feel to do things a certain way, the mechanical formula that critics say make "good art", and just a general feeling of artistic oppression

4) Aliens (two meanings): Unknown Possibilities and Feelings of Alienation

With that said, I'll stop here and let you all interpret this piece how you like. It takes away a lot of the fun If I tell you how you should view a piece. So in other words, I'll let you all decide how these visual elements fit together and what they're saying.
