With the help of my friend, Sara Wood (who did the bottom lettering) I finally completed the water tower mural I mentioned here: djrustye.deviantart.com/art/We…
I have worked very hard on this project all year. I spent all of January drawing and painting the original four possible designs. Then I spent lots time trying to figure out how to scale up the image for the water tower. Finally, I spent half of July and almost all of this month (August) painting it on the tower.
My friend Sara was tons of help. She probably saved me close to a month of work just by working on the lettering at the bottom using a step ladder while I did everything else using the lift.
This is by far the largest painting I’ve ever done (21 feet tall/27 feet wide).
I hope this will open up more and more opportunities to do this kind of work.
I also hope this will inspire other people in my area to create opportunities for other artistically talented people.
My area (Church Hill, TN) has little to no outside visible presence of art. I really hope this begins to change that! This is the first outside public piece of art in Church Hill besides a painting of the Last Supper at the local cemetery (that I am aware of).
You can view the water tower here on Google maps here: email@example.com…
Hopefully whenever the Google camera truck comes back around, you’ll be able to see my painting on Google maps!
How cool is that?
*I thought I'd take another picture without the lift and other things in the way.
